We have changed our prizes
and ranking system for the
Troisport Joburg City Tri
Series for 2009/10. The
Standard Distance races
forms a series in an all
inclusive open category
based on first past the post
basis. Troisport runs this
triathlon race series with
no cash sponsorship. This
reality has placed a
hindrance on cash prize
money that is available. We
have centralised these cash
payments towards the sharp
end of the field in the
Standard distance races i.e.
the full time
professional/elite athletes.
This has been at the expense
of school going juniors and
working vets. For all the
other athletes in the
standard and sprint
distance, we have introduced
South Africa’s first age
group ranking system. The
series winners in the
respective age groups will
receive gold, silver and
bronze medals.

• To be in the hunt for the
series money, athletes need
to do at least two events.
• If you do all three, we will take your two best results.
• If two or more athletes finish the series with the same amount of
points then the athletes
with the highest position in
the finals will determine
the overall
series winner, the same applies to final positions on
the log.
• If the highest point scorers have not competed in the finals then
the above will apply to race
2.
• Basically: Race 3 – Final - carries the most weight and Race 2
the next. If a points winner
(outright – highest points –
no tie) has not competed in
the final he
will still be crowned series win
• We will keep the race rankings on the web site.
